Fairfax County collects vehicle license fees on behalf of the Town of Vienna. Fairfax County includes vehicle license fees on personal property tax statements; the Town does not send separate bills to residents.

Payment is due to the county by October 5 each year for all motor vehicles owned or stored in the Town of Vienna as of January 1 of that year. If October 5 falls on a weekend, the due date is the next business day.

Vehicle fees

• $33 for cars and trucks weighing 4,000 pounds or less
• $38 for cars and trucks weighing 4,001 pounds or more
• $18 for motorcycles

Fees are prorated monthly for purchases, sales, or disposals made during the year. Vienna residents must register car disposals or purchases with Fairfax County, as the county administers the personal property tax and license fees for vehicles. Vehicle license fee waiver

Residents eligible for real estate tax relief are entitled to a waiver of the Town’s vehicle license fee for one vehicle.  Please visit Fairfax County's tax relief page for details.
