Dogs registered to Town of Vienna residents DO NOT need a Fairfax County dog license.
Dogs older than four months must be vaccinated against rabies and licensed annually with the Town of Vienna. Tags are sold only upon presentation of a certificate that the dog’s rabies inoculation, administered by a licensed veterinarian, is up to date.
Cats older than three months also must be vaccinated against rabies but are not required to be licensed.
License fees and requirements
Annual dog tags are $10/dog. All dogs must have their tag securely attached to a collar and worn whenever the dog is off the owner's property.
Dog licenses go on sale each Nov. 1. Current year licenses expire Dec. 31, and new licenses must be purchased and displayed by Jan. 31.
Application
For a new dog, please submit a completed Dog License Application, along with a copy of your dog's rabies vaccination certificate and payment via cash or check, in person or by mail to the finance department at:

Exemptions
Dogs that are trained and serving as guide/service dogs for those who are blind, hearing impaired, or mobility impaired must be registered with the Town, but are exempt from the license fee.
